During the evening peak hours on 7th July 2015, the breakdown that affected the most people, more than the 2011 incident, happened on both the North-South and East-West lines, the first time that affected both lines at the same time. Train services was only resumed a few hours later, 9.20 p.m. on the EWL and 10.35 p.m. on the NSL, at a slower speed.
The exact cause of the breakdown was unknown but a faulty train which could have caused the power to trip with arcing observed on the underside of this train was found in an LTA preliminary investigation. Other possible factors are the three defects SMRT spotted during an overnight check: two damaged power cables along the North-South line near Bishan MRT station, a faulty relay system at Kranji’s power substation, and a water leakage close to the third-rail insulator at Tanjong Pagar station. They had each been rectified but are not the root causes of the incident and that had led Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong worried that the problem may recur.
Passengers were frustrated by the incident. There were complains about the flickering lights in the trains and stations before they went off completely. The complain that filled up the social media was that the queue for the free shuttle buses was too long and also disorganised, including instructions being unclear. However, among the disappointments, there were some commuters who bought food and drinks for the staff on duty.
Hello there! Hope you’re having a great time! Kids, great week at school?
This is the top 5 songs. Hope you’ll like it! Have a nice week ahead!
